Chellie Burnham - Preschool Assistant Teacher
Chellie joined the staff in 2007 as an assistant in the 3's morning class. She and her husband were introduced to the preschool before they even became parents! After years of suffering with infertility, friends of theirs prayed with them, "Lord, we just know You are going to bless this couple with children and they will attend Grace Bible Preschool just like our girls do!" All prayers were answered as the Burnham children were born in '96, '98 and '00 and all three attended Grace Bible Preschool. Chellie put her 10 year career with a local bank on hold to be a full-time mom. She enjoyed being a Preschool volunteer in the classroom and assisting as a substitute when needed. She just recently worked as a one-to-one assistant in Special Education in Carroll County Public Schools before accepting her current position here.
Her family joined Grace Bible Church in 2004 and both she and her husband are active as Pioneer Club leaders and VBS leaders. Chellie enjoys teaching children to praise God through songs. Her favorite Scripture is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3: 5-6.
Ginny Bussiere - Director
Ginny has been the director of Grace Bible Preschool and Kindergarten since August of 2000. She feels truly blessed to have been offered this position and thoroughly enjoys getting to know the students and the families that enroll their children in this program. She is a member of Grace Bible Church and is involved in the choir, worship team, Vacation Bible School, and special children's choirs. Her life verse is Isaiah 6:8, "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send and who will go for us?' Then said I, 'Here am I, send me'."
Her two sons attend Carroll County Public Schools and she has been very involved in their individual schools by serving on School Improvement Teams, a Facility Assessment Committee, as well as Principal and Vice Principal Interview Committees. She has been on the executive board for the Carroll County Council of PTAs and has served on several county wide committees such as the Pupil Services Strategic Planning Committee, the Parent /Family Community Involvement Committee, and the Curriculum Council.
Although many people equate parent involvement to parent volunteerism, parent involvement is so much more. It encompasses such things as attending Back to School nights; making sure your child is fed, dressed, and on time for school each morning; checking tote bags every night; reading to your child every day; as well as volunteering in your child's school or participation in decision making committees. The Maryland PTA Bulletin of January-March 2003 states that a research synthesis by authors Henderson & Mapp found that students with involved parents, no matter what their income or the parent's education level, were more likely to succeed in school. Success was defined as children attending school regularly, earning higher grades, graduating, and going on to post-secondary education. Parent involvement increases student achievement!
Ginny Doarnberger - Preschool Assistant Teacher
Ginny graduated from McDaniel College where she met her husband. They have been members of Grace Bible Church since 1987 and are active in many capacities. Besides teaching preschool, being a “taxi mom,” teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, Ginny enjoys reading and bowling.
Ginny started working at Grace Bible Preschool in 1997 as a long-term substitute. She has been an assistant teacher in the 3 year old class since then and became a pre-K assistant teacher in September 2006. "The spirit among the staff at Grace Bible Christian Preschool & Kindergarten is a real tribute to their love for the Lord and the children. It’s a blessing to work with these Christian women and a joy to see the influence we can have in the lives of these little ones for eternity."
Cindy Georg - Preschool Assistant Teacher
Cindy has been on staff as a teacher since 1997 but she substituted at Grace Bible Preschool for 3 years prior to that. She is an assistant teacher for both the 4 year olds and pre-K classes. She loves working with the children and realizes that this is a great way to meet families. She is excited about being able to share the love of Jesus with so many children and parents. Seeing the children mature and grow is such a blessing to her. It makes her realize that what we do here makes a difference in their tiny lives. They are little sponges waiting to soak up all the new things we place before them. Earning their trust can be a big challenge, but when it is accomplished, it’s a great reward! She enjoys working with the staff and she couldn’t have asked for better people to work along side of!
Kim Harcus - Preschool Teacher
God has blessed Kim by granting her the opportunity to teach at our school since 1989. She has resumed teaching the morning 3 year olds as well as continuing to teach the morning 4 year olds. She is fortunate to have relatives who attend Grace Bible Church and is grateful they informed her of an opening to minister here years ago. She says she could not ask for a more ideal place to work. God graciously gave her this opportunity to serve here, and she is truly thankful for His goodness to her.
Merle King - Preschool Assistant Teacher
Merle is a member of Grace Bible Church and has been attending this church for over 20 years. In 1987, the vision of a Christian Preschool was realized at Grace Bible. Volunteering at her children’s schools and substituting at the elementary level gave her the skills and the chance to work with children. She felt the Lord leading her to the position of assistant teacher and has been doing so ever since. She has seen how the Lord has blessed the school throughout the years with its growth and the start of Kindergarten in 1997.
Seeing how the children progress in their Christian and academic growth throughout the school year is such a joy and blessing. One of her favorite Bible verses is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13
Darla Miller - Preschool Teacher
Darla graduated from Towson University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She continued to take graduate classes and became certified in Early Childhood & Elementary Education. She began teaching at Grace Bible Christian Preschool in September of 1996 and continued through May of 2000. At that time she took a short break to stay at home with her two adorable children but returned in September of 2003. She enjoys teaching at Grace Bible and feels the staff is so friendly and supportive. The teachers and assistants as well as the director get along so well. Darla loves to teach 4 year olds. They amaze her as they show her what they can learn through songs and fingerplays. Four year olds make her laugh, "keep her on her toes," and make her feel young.
Her family and she attend a local church where she teaches Sunday School as well as Vacation Bible School during the summer. When she has spare time, Darla enjoys day trips, going to the beach, visiting family, taking walks, and reading. She also enjoys browsing through country stores to decorate her house with country primitives. (Her favorite store is The Hickory Stick! in Westminster, MD.) Darla's favorite Bible verse is "In God have I put my trust; I will not be afraid." - Psalms 56:11
Susan Morgan - Kindergarten Teacher
Susan taught for 7 ½ years at Hampstead Elementary before stopping to be a stay at home mom. During that time she kept her hand in teaching at church. In 1997 she substituted for one of our teachers on maternity leave and came back the following Fall as an afternoon 4 year old teacher. In 1998 she added the Kindergarten class to her schedule, and is continuing in that capacity.
She started attending Grace Bible Church with her family when the church was meeting at Therit’s Market in Manchester, MD. God has given her a love for children and a talent for teaching them. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to teach in a Christian atmosphere where she can share with the children the marvels of what God has made, as well as the deepness of His love for them. Susan devotes her time and energies to her job, knowing that she is sowing into little lives the same thing the saints of God, here at Grace Bible, sowed into her life so many years ago.
Cindy Myers - Preschool Teacher
Cindy is a graduate of Westminster High School and Lebanon Valley College. When she began teaching here in 1998, she was exclusively with the the 3 year olds but has recently added teaching the pre-K students into her schedule, too. Prior to that, Cindy taught music at North Carroll Middle School for 8 years.
Outside of school you will find her involved in her childrens’ school PTO; Rec. Council football, baseball and softball; and in many church activities such as Children’s Choir and the worship team where she plays flute, altosax, and soprano sax. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 8:2 “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger.”
Joanne Owens - Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
Joanne started working at the Preschool as an assistant teacher in 1996 with the 3 year olds. She taught these students for one year. The following year, the Kindergarten began and she became the assistant teacher there. She has continued teaching Kindergarten students and just loves it. It is such a joy watching the children grow and learn from the beginning of the school year. They enjoy learning and she counts it a blessing to be a part of helping them in that process. She prays that the things she teaches them during Bible time is something they will remember for many years and that it will have an impact on their lives. Memorization is important for children to hide scripture in their hearts so they can use them later.
Vicky Wilmer - Preschool Teacher
Vicky is a graduate of Towson University and received her masters degree from McDaniel College. After teaching at Eldersburg Elementary for 11 years, she became a stay at home mom. During that time she continued to be involved with children and moms through a MOMS Club in Carroll County, Maryland. When her sons were students here at the preschool, she volunteered in their class and saw first-hand how well the staff worked together to provide a loving and God centered environment for the children.
Vicky grew up on the Eastern Shore in Chestertown, MD. College brought her west of the Chesapeake Bay to Towson University where she received her bachelors degree. Her education courses brought her out to Carroll County, where she received her masters degree in reading from McDaniel College. While teaching at Eldersburg Elementary School, she met her husband and moved to Carroll County.
God presented the opportunity for Vicky to become a teacher in the 4 year old program in 2003. She currently teaches pre-K and 3 year olds, She feels truly blessed to be able to teach in a Christian environment. Being able to watch the children grow and develop is such a blessing.
