In September 2007, all Maryland public school kindergarten classes became full day programs. Grace Bible Christian Kindergarten, as a Maryland State Department of Education Non-Public Approved School, has permission to remain a half-day program. Promotion to first grade is permissible, once children have successfully completed our kindergarten program, even if a child has a fall birthday. Our kindergarten eligible birthday cutoff date is December 31st of that school year.

How Grace Bible Christian Kindergarten may differ from other kindergartens:

  • Class size is 15 students, which lends to more individualized instruction.
  • Our instructional day is concentrated in the content areas of:  language arts, mathematics, handwriting, social studies, science, and Christian Education. Since we do not offer formal classes in music, media, physical education or art, nor provide lunch or rest time, we are able to condense the state kindergarten curriculum into a half day program.
  • Teachers are committed to the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Differences Between 4’s Preschool and Pre-K:

Our 4-year-old preschool class is still a social preschool with a shift toward academics. The skills needed to thrive in Kindergarten are artfully woven into your child’s day through hands on activities, song and play.  Our goal for these students is they will be able to write their own name, identify the letters of the alphabet (upper and lower case), cut with scissors, as well as progress with their large and small motor skills.

Our 5-day Pre-K class is designed for the child who will be attending Kindergarten the following year.  This program will have the same expectations as our 4-year-old class, with some variations to keep the class fresh and challenging.  This class will offer additional instruction, focusing on language experience in reading and writing as well as offering opportunities to explore through cooking and science experiments.
